AIDs-associated diarrhoea may be caused by:

  • Salmonella
  • E.coli
  • Shigella
  • Clostridium species
  • Campylobacter
  • V.cholerae
  • E. histolytica
  • Salmonella, shigella and campylobacter cause more severe diarrhoea with longer duration

Signs and symptoms

  • Frequent stools (sometimes with blood) leading to dehydration
  • Vomiting
  • Fever
  • Abdominal pain or cramps
