Pre-malignant condition, primarily disease of the old people. 

Investigations: similar to aplastic anaemia, plus analysis of 5q deletion. 

Pharmacological treatment 

B:blood transfusion for symptomatic treatment 

AND 

S: azacitidine (SC) 75mg/m² 24hourly for 7days, repeat after every 28days
