STI Related
- Chlamydia trichomatis
- Treponema palladium and Herpes simplex
Non-STI Related
- Anal fissure
- Faecal impaction
- Food intolerance
- Gastroenteritis
- Inflammatory bowel disease
- Crohn’s disease
- Ulcerative colitis
Signs and symptoms
- Pus discharge
- Redness of the rectum/anal canal (proctitis)
- Itching of the rectum; burning sensation
Evaluation/Investigations
- Palpitation of anogenital area
- Digital anoscopy
- HIV tests
- Other investigations as appropriate
Pharmacological treatment
Ceftriaxone IM 250 mg in a single dose PLUS Doxycycline oral 100 mg twice a day for 7 days |
