CLINICAL FEATURES

SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS

  • Muscle cramps (thighs, calf muscles)
  • Leg numbness or weakness
  • Coldness in lower leg or foot
  • Sores: legs or feet or toes
  • Hair loss or slower hair growth in legs/feet
  • Weak or no pause in legs/feet
  • Erectile dysfunction in men
  • Shiny skin in legs

INVESTIGATIONS

  • Blood sugar, FBC, lipid profile, HIV

TREATMENT

  • Consider adding Aspirin and Statin
  • Treat risk factors (diabetes, hyperlipidemia, HIV)
  • Patients with critical limb Ischemia should be referred to high level of care to avoid death from septic shock
