Cervical Adenitis

CLINICAL DESCRIPTION

Adenitis may be due to bacterial infection, TB, KS and/or HIV infection among other causes.

TREATMENT

• Give Amoxycillin 500mg 8 hourly for 10 days

Alternatively, if penicillin hypersensitivity:

• Give Erythromycin 500mg 6 hourly or
• Give Doxycycline 200mg on first day followed by 100 mg every day for a further 9 days
• For pain or fever give analgesic

Note: If no improvement, do a fine needle aspiration for AFBs
